From our place at 266 Grove Farm Road, New Market is a straight shot down Interstate 81. Forty minutes, give or take, depending on what the trucks are doing through the valley.
New Market sits in the lower end of Shenandoah County, tucked up against Massanutten Mountain on one side and the river on the other. You know it for the battlefield, the caverns, and Route 11 running right through the middle of town. We know it for the houses, and the houses here are a mix that keeps a plumber honest.
Some of New Market’s homes go back well over a hundred years, the brick and frame places near the old town center and out along Congress Street. Those came up before anybody was thinking about a half inch of copper or a clean shutoff under every fixture. Then you have the post war ranches, the seventies splits, and the newer builds out toward the I-81 interchange and up on the slopes. Every one of those eras did plumbing its own way, and we have crawled under all of them.
That mix is the whole job. A repipe in a 1910 farmhouse near the battlefield is a different animal than a water heater swap in a 2005 build off Old Cross Road. We do both, and we do not pretend the old house is the new one or charge you for guesswork. Need us elsewhere in the county? We work all of Shenandoah County the same way.
Bathroom remodel plumbing in New MarketWhat New Market homes actually call us for
Some plumbing problems show up everywhere. Plenty of them are specific to a town built where this one is, on this kind of ground, drawing water the way it does. Here is the real list for New Market.
Well systemsPlenty of New Market sits on municipal water, but the homes out past the town line and up the mountain run on wells. Pressure tanks lose their charge, well pumps wear out, and the water down here carries iron and hardness that chews through fixtures and clogs aerators faster than town water does. We service the line from the well to the tap, and we are honest about what a softener will and will not fix.

Water heatersHard valley water shortens the life of a tank. We are certified on most brands, tank and tankless, and we will tell you whether yours has years left or is about to dump forty gallons on your basement floor. We are also certified on the brands the supply houses around here actually stock, so we are not waiting two weeks on a part.

Sewer and septic side drainsTown homes near Route 11 tie into the municipal sewer. Out past the edges, plenty of properties run septic, and the drain line from the house to the tank is where roots and grease back things up. We run a camera before we guess, and we hydro jet a line clean instead of just punching a hole through the clog.

Frozen and burst linesMassanutten doesn’t care about your crawlspace. A New Market winter finds the uninsulated run under an old porch or in a vented crawl every year. We thaw, we repair, and frozen water line repairs come with 10 percent off because nobody plans for a January burst.

Repiping old galvanizedThe older homes in town often still have galvanized supply lines rusting shut from the inside. Brown water, weak pressure, pinhole leaks. We repipe in copper or PEX and route it so the next repair is reachable, not buried.

Leak detection and fixturesA water bill that jumps for no reason usually means a slab or wall leak. We find it without tearing your house apart, then fix the actual problem. Faucets, toilets, gas lines, remodels, residential and commercial. If it carries water or gas, we work on it.

Commercial plumbing service in New MarketOld houses, hard water, real ground
New Market’s water story is the valley’s water story. The aquifer running under the county is limestone karst, which is why you get the caverns and why the well water comes out hard and mineral heavy. That hardness scales up your water heater, crusts your shower heads, and leaves the white film on glass that no amount of scrubbing beats.
We are not going to sell you a system you don’t need. If your house is on town water and your only complaint is a slow drain, we are not quoting a whole house softener. If you are on a well off Quicksburg Road and your fixtures are dying every two years, that is a different conversation, and we will have it straight with you.
The same goes for the old plumbing. A frame house near the battlefield that has been added onto three times since the 1920s has plumbing nobody planned, just stacked on top of itself. We trace it, we tell you what is failing and what is fine, and we fix the part that needs fixing. You can read more about how we work and see past jobs in the gallery.
