Kitchen Plumbing For The Room You Actually Use Every Day
Sinks, faucets, disposals, dishwasher and ice maker lines, gas ranges, and the supply and drain rough-in behind a full kitchen remodel. We size it right, run it clean, and tell you straight what your old pipe can and cannot handle.

More water goes through a kitchen than any other room outside the bathroom, and most of it is the messy kind. Grease, coffee grounds, starch from pasta water, and bits of food all head down one drain. A dishwasher and a disposal share that same line. Hot and cold supply lines feed the faucet, and on a lot of Front Royal homes there is a gas line a few feet away feeding the range. When something in that cluster goes wrong, the whole kitchen stops working, and a kitchen that does not work is the fastest way to make a house feel broken.
Ajax handles kitchen plumbing two different ways, and they are not the same job. The first is the everyday repair and replacement work: a faucet that drips no matter how hard you crank it, a disposal that hums and quits, a sink that drains slow, a supply valve under the cabinet that has seized up and weeps. The second is the bigger work tied to a remodel or a new build, where we move the sink, re-rough the supply and drain, add a pot filler or a second prep sink, and set everything up to pass inspection before the cabinets and counters go back on top of it.
A dishwasher and a disposal share that same line.
We are a small father and son outfit, so the person who looks at your kitchen is the same person who does the work and the same person who answers when you call back. No call center, no rotating crew, no salesman pushing a fixture package you did not ask for. We pick up the phone, we show up when we say we will, and we tell you what we would do if it were our own kitchen.

Backflow certified and certified on most of the water heater and fixture brands you will find around here, we work the same way on a quick under sink repair as we do on a full kitchen rough-in: figure out exactly what is going on, do the part that needs doing, and leave the cabinet dry.
Pipe connections in Kitchen Plumbing For The Room You Actually Use Every DaySigns Your Kitchen Needs A Plumber, Not Another Bottle Of Drain Cleaner
A lot of kitchen problems get worse quietly. Here is when it is time to stop fighting it yourself and have us take a look.
- Slow or backing upThe sink drains slow or burps water back up. Years of grease and food have narrowed the drain or the trap, or a deeper clog is forming where you cannot reach it. Store bought chemicals just push it down the line and eat at older pipe.
- Disposal deadThe disposal hums, jams, or leaks from the bottom. A humming unit usually has a jammed flywheel, and a leak from the bottom seam means the unit is done. We swap it and re-check the dishwasher drain tie in while we are under there.
- Faucet won’t quitA drip you cannot stop, low pressure, or a sprayer that dribbles. Worn cartridges and clogged aerators are common, but on hard well water the valve body itself can be scaled past the point of a rebuild.
- Wet cabinet floorThe base of the cabinet is damp, swollen, or smells musty. A weeping supply valve, a loose disposal mount, or a bad P-trap connection drips slow and rots the cabinet from the inside before you ever see standing water.
- Dishwasher troubleThe dishwasher leaks, will not drain, or backs dirty water into the sink. Usually a clogged or wrongly looped drain line, a failed air gap, or a disposal knockout plug nobody removed on the last install.
- Remodel comingYou are moving the sink or adding an island. That is supply and drain work behind the wall and under the floor, and it needs to be sized, vented, and inspected. This is the part of a remodel that is miserable to fix after the counters are on.
How Ajax Works A Kitchen Job
We look before we quote
We pull the cabinet doors open, check the supply valves, the trap, the disposal mount, and the dishwasher tie in, and we run the water and the disposal to see the failure happen. On a remodel we walk the new layout with you so we know where the sink, the dishwasher, and any prep sink or pot filler are landing before we price the rough-in. You get a straight number, not a guess that balloons later.
We do the actual fix, not the band aid
If a faucet cartridge solves it, we rebuild it. If the valve body is scaled past saving from years of hard water, we tell you that and replace the part that is failing instead of charging you twice. Disposals get swapped with the drain and dishwasher connection re-checked. Slow drains get cleared mechanically, not chemically, so we are not eating older pipe to buy a week of relief.
On remodels, we rough it in right and to code
New supply lines sized for the fixtures, drains pitched and vented so the sink and dishwasher drain clean, shutoffs at every fixture, and a gas line set safely if you are going to a gas range. We coordinate around your cabinet and counter schedule so the rough-in is inspected and signed off before anything covers it up, and we come back for the final set once the counter is on.
We leave it dry and clean
Before we pack up we run every fixture, fill and drain the sink, cycle the disposal, run the dishwasher through a drain, and wipe down the cabinet floor and watch for a single drop. You should not find a puddle a week after we leave, and you have our number if you do.
The Pieces Of A Kitchen, And What Goes Wrong With Each
The Sink And FaucetDrips and weak pressure usually trace to a worn cartridge or a scaled aerator, both quick fixes. We set new sinks and faucets level and sealed so the counter edge does not collect water, and we make sure the supply lines have room and are not kinked behind the basket strainer.
The Garbage DisposalA hum means a jam, a leak from the bottom means the unit is finished. We replace it, re-seal the mount, and confirm the dishwasher drain hose is looped and tied in right so dirty water does not back into the disposal.
The Dishwasher HookupMost dishwasher leaks and drainage complaints come from the drain line, the air gap, or a knockout plug left in the disposal inlet on a prior install. We hook up the supply, loop the drain high to prevent backflow, and test a full drain cycle.
The Drain And P-TrapKitchen drains take grease and food and narrow over the years. We clear them mechanically and replace tired traps and slip joints that have started to weep instead of taping over a connection that is going to leak again.
Ice Maker And Fridge LinesThat little plastic saddle valve behind the fridge is a slow leak waiting to happen. We run a proper quarter turn valve and a clean line so your ice maker and water dispenser work without soaking the floor behind the fridge.
The Gas Range LineGoing from electric to gas, or moving the range, means a gas line, and that is not a part to improvise. We size and run it, check for leaks, and shut off and cap it safely if you are pulling a range out for a remodel.
Front Royal Kitchens Have Their Own Quirks
A lot of homes around Front Royal and out through the Shenandoah Valley are older, and the kitchen plumbing shows it. We find galvanized supply lines that have rusted shut from the inside, cast iron drains that have scaled down to a fraction of their bore, and saddle valves and slip joint repairs from owners past that were never going to hold. On those houses a simple faucet swap can turn up a supply valve that crumbles the moment you touch it, which is exactly why we look before we quote instead of after.
Plenty of properties out toward the county and the West Virginia panhandle run on well water, and well water out here is hard. That mineral scale is rough on faucet cartridges, aerators, dishwasher valves, and ice maker lines, and it shortens the life of every fixture in the kitchen. We size and pick parts knowing what hard water does to them, and we will tell you honestly when a fixture is failing because of the water and not because of the install.
Winters get cold here, and kitchen lines on an exterior wall or running through an unheated crawl space can freeze. If a kitchen line freezes and splits, fix it fast before it thaws and floods the cabinet, and there is 10 percent off frozen water line repairs. We are also on call 24/7 for the emergencies that do not wait for morning.
Straight Talk On What It Costs
Repairs And Swaps
Quotes are free, and for most repair and replacement work we can give you a real number once we see it. A faucet rebuild, a disposal swap, a new under sink valve, or a drain clear are predictable jobs, and we quote them up front so there is no surprise on the invoice.
Where it is fair to do so, we fix the part that is failing rather than replacing the whole fixture, and we say so when an old part is genuinely past saving instead of charging you twice for the same problem.
Remodel And New Construction
Kitchen rough-in for a remodel or new build is priced after we walk the layout, because where the sink, dishwasher, prep sink, and range land changes how much supply and drain we run and whether a gas line is involved. Once we have the plan, you get a firm number to work into the project.
We coordinate with your cabinet and counter schedule so the rough-in passes inspection before anything covers it, then return for the final fixture set. That sequencing is the part that keeps a kitchen remodel from getting expensive twice.
Kitchen Plumbing Questions
Do you handle full kitchen remodels or just repairs?
Both. We do everyday repair and replacement, a leaking faucet, a dead disposal, a slow drain, and we do the full plumbing rough-in behind a kitchen remodel or new build, including moving the sink, adding a prep sink or pot filler, running the dishwasher and ice maker lines, and setting a gas line for the range.
My disposal just hums and won’t spin. Is it dead?
Usually not. A hum almost always means the flywheel is jammed, and that is often clearable. If it leaks from the bottom seam though, the unit is finished and needs replacing. We figure out which one it is before we charge you for a new disposal you may not need.
Can you move my kitchen sink to a new spot or out to an island?
Yes. Moving a sink or adding an island means running new supply and drain and getting the drain properly vented, which is real behind the wall and under the floor work that needs to be sized and inspected. We walk the new layout with you first so it is roughed in right and signed off before the cabinets and counter go on.
I have well water and my faucets keep failing. Why?
Well water around here is hard, and that mineral scale chews through faucet cartridges, aerators, dishwasher valves, and ice maker lines faster than city water does. We pick parts knowing that, and we will tell you honestly when a fixture is failing because of the water rather than the install.
A kitchen line froze and split this winter. Can you help fast?
Yes, and there is 10 percent off frozen water line repairs. Get to it before it fully thaws so it does not flood the cabinet. We are on call 24/7 for kitchen emergencies that cannot wait until morning.
Do you charge for a quote?
No. Quotes are free. We come look at the kitchen, run the fixtures, and give you a straight number. For remodel and new construction we price it after walking the layout, because the cost depends on where everything lands.
Pipe burst, water heater dead, or just need a straight answer?
Tell us what is going on and a real person calls you back, usually within the hour. The quote is always free.
